Indonesias long-term economic disarray has influenced many small-scales businesses. Balis arts and crafts vendors have suffered this long-term crisis. Every effort has been done to increase sales while cutting their unnecessary cost.
They have approached the government for further solutions, however, this seems to be not so effective way to expand the market.
| A few days ago, a group of arts and crafts vendors in Gianyar initiated an exhibition on 29 February at banjar Batanancak. Ida Bagus Ambara, the chief of the exhibition, said that in order to gain more customers worldwide, vendors have to do more aggressive marketing or in his term selling mission and doing an exhibition is a way to achieve this goal. There are 150 vendors joined the exhibition, ranging from small-sized to mid-sized business.
| Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana, daughter of Soeharto (the second Indonesian president), visited the exhibition. Rukmana, also known as Mbak Tutut, hoped that this exhibition would continue and give further impact on the growth of the economy.
