The Celebration Of Kuningan Day

 Balinese Hindu will celebrate the Kuningan Day, a day of prosperity, on August 21, 2004, marking the end of the Galungan Day celebration.
Kuningan Day is a time for commemoration as ancestors return to heaven after ten days dwelling on earth and when the Balinese say thanks to the gods for their mercy to the humankind. On the day, Balinese will have holidays and be seen visiting each other and sharing fun. Every village in Bali will celebrate the Kuningan Day in grand style, with colorful festivals held at temples in some parts of Bali Island.
| Locals will be seen redecorating the bamboo pole, locally called penjor, which has been erecting in front of each house compound's entrance gate since a day before Galungan, by taking down the white clothes and substituted them with the yellow ones, symbolizing the prosperity.
| The celebration of Kuningan Day is always coincided with the temple's anniversary in Serangan Island. The island lies in southern part of Denpasar, and takes around 15 minutes drive to reach the area by passing the bridge now nearing completion. The temple itself will be jam-packed by the people dressed in traditional Balinese costumes for three days.
|  Kuningan Day celebration with ritual procession will be a unique sight for travelers to Bali, especially when the prayers cross the short distance ocean by chartering boats.
In the past, one should go by boat to reach Serangan Island. However, since the reclamation has taken place, a bridge has been built to link Serangan Island to Denpasar.
