Durma

A special man with his special power often becomes a fantastic story. As well as in modern way or traditional way, Batman and Superman with their modern technology and high intellectual or Hercules and Connan with their special descent and special power.
If Hercules has a Gods as his father and common woman as his mother that make him to be special man in this universe, I Durma almost has it.
I Durma, one of folktale in Bali, was a son of Rajapala (a mankind) and Ken Sulasih (goddess). When he was a baby, his father sent him to Kingdom's palace, and his mother already left him to heaven.
Although as an orphan, I Durma did not have a less confidant, he grown up as a handsome boy and a smart one. He was an honest and very kind even a king loved him much.
| One day, he heard that his father still alive and stayed in the jungle as a holly man. It made him wanted to meet his father. He asked a permit to find his father to the King, but the king did not allowed it because he was so young. I Durma believed the king that he could handle it and promised back as soon as he met his father.
The King saw that I Durma's desire was so strong to go and he gave the permit and ordered some talented knight company I Durma entering the jungle to see his father.
In the middle of virgin jungle near a river, I Durma with his guards took a rest. Among the guards, they were very surprise with I Durma's brave and his power. He did not run or scare when they met with a group of robber or wild animals and fight very great and his power never less until they took rest his face still fresh.
I Durma looked so happy, in his mind he would meet his father soon. He already wanted to continue walking but he saw the guards looked very tired and some of them slept. Then I Durma told all of the guards to sleep preparing their energy while he took a bath in the river.
| He did not realize that weird eyes kept watching on him. And suddenly, a devil monster appeared and caught I Durma. I Durma tried to free him self. A crowded voice made the guards run to the river. They tried to help I Durma but the monster so powerful, most of them dead in that fighting and some was unconscious including I Durma.
The monster brought I Durma to its nest. When I Durma a wake, he saw himself tided up and a horrible monster in front of him.
He asked what the monster wanted. The monster said that she wanted I Durma became her husband. I Durma refused it and prefer died then be her husband. The monster laughed and thought that I Durma refused her because of her ugly appearance. She directly changed her appearance became a beautiful lady. But I Durma still in his mind.
It made the monster upset and angry. She let I Durma free and challenged in I Durma to fight with her because she did not want to kill her enemy with out fight.
Although I Durma gave all of his power, he could not kill the monster and the monster although more powerful could not kill it, too. The monster stopped the fight and asked I Durma who's his parent. I Durma mentioned his parent's name.
| After heard that I Durma was a son of Rajapala and Ken Sulasih, the monster cried and holded I Durma, she apologized that she did not realized Durma was her son. I Durma looked so confusing when he heard it.
The monster told I Durma a story about his history and told I Durma that she was his mother. Because of her mistake, married with human, the king of Gods gave her a punishment to stay in this jungle as a guard of it in ugly appearance until a man could kill her. She never expected that she would meet her son here. She returned her appearance as the goddess.
I Durma looked very happy when he realized that the monster was really his mother and asked about where his father stayed in this jungle. Ken Sulasih concentrated her mind to contact her husband.
After two days, an old man with white fabric as his cloth came to the nest. He was surprised when he saw Ken Sulasih and Ken Sulasih realized that the old man was Rajapala, her lovely husband. She introduced I Durma to him.
Rajapala told Ken Sulasih and I Durma that he understood what was happen after live as a prayer many years. He got massage from the Gods that only I Durma could returned Ken Sulasih to heaven. Rajapala told that their destiny was separated although they loved each other.
After both of them told their own stories, Ken Sulasih gave I Durma a special weapon to memorize his mother and his father and asked I Durma kill her with it. As a son I Durma refused to kill his mother. Then Rajapala told I Durma that it was a ritual to purify their sins and help Ken Sulasih back to heaven. I Durma killed his mother then. And the monster directly disappeared, followed by flowers fall from sky.
I Durma told his father that he would company his stayed in the jungle. Rajapala told I Durma that he might return to the palace and continued to dedicate his life for the kingdom. He would continue his pray for his sin and I Durma glorious.
