Bali Fashion Week (the Sixth)

Bali Fashion Week (BFW) is to be held for the sixth successive year and promises to be yet again a spectacular event on Bali's social calendar. BFW VI will kick off in front of Discovery Mall on 5th June 2005 at 9 am with the Guinness Book Record breaker, Afif Syakur, one Yogyakarta's best batik designers, who together with designers of fashion, graphic arts, batik and textiles as well as painters will collaborate to make the longest 300 meters batik painting on the beach.
| The Indonesian Minister of Tourism will open the Bali Fashion Week Street Carnival Parade with specially compiled theme music, dancing along the street, fancy clothes, companies with fancy cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and decorative dokars (horse carts). Designers will be given the opportunity to create one "Spectacular Costume" with the theme "Tri Hita Karana" incorporating the ideas of: concern for the environment, God, man and the earth. Forty percent of the materials used must include Indonesian fabrics such as, Ikat, Songket, Endek or Batik while at the same time the creations must take an international twist in design application.
| The "Best Design Awards" will be announced at the finale of the Street Carnival Evening. It is estimated that the parade will take approximately 2.5 hours and is scheduled to end on the Kuta beach front at 6.00 pm. The BFW VI Exhibition promises to be an interactive meeting place for buyers and sellers. On the evenings of 6th ~ 8th June, Fashion Shows will take place at the Amphitheatre of Discovery Kartika Plaza by various Indonesian and the International Designers.
