Festival Fever: The Island Of Festival Parade 2005-07-08 [Theechomagazine.com]
Performances are abundant from June to July 2005. Festivals and carnivals will color Southern Bali, and anyone who comes to Bali will enjoy Bali as the island of festival and parade. Bali Fashion Week, Kuta Carnival, Bali Art Festival and Indonesian Performing Art Mart; not to mention the first Bali Bienalle that will be started with pre-summit events this July.

Bali Fashion Week VI is bigger and better than ever, with fashion and textile trade, seminar and fashion show. The Fashion Week this year comes with some interesting programs such as The Longest Batik Painting, Street Carnival and Bali Party Blast. Traditional Weavers from various islands displaying their completed handwork collections and they will have the chance to encounter with International Fashion Parade of Style by International designers from Malaysia, China, Korea, Russia and Lebanon. The BFW VI Exhibition promises to be definitely the meeting place for buyers and sellers. The Sixth Annual Bali Fashion Week Street Carnival will be held on Sunday the 5th of June 2005 from 1600 to 1800. The "Street Parade" will start from the airport area and climax at Kuta Beach. Designers will be given the opportunity to create one "Spectacular Costume" with the theme "Trihita Karana" incorporating the ideas of: Concern for the Environment, God, Men and Earth. Forty percent of the materials used must include Indonesian fabrics such as Ikat, Songket, Endek or Batik while at the same time the creations must take an international twist in design application. The "Best Design Awards" will be announced at the Finale of the Street Carnival Evening.
Bali Arts Festival
Another procession parade opens the twenty seventh Bali Arts Festival. Entering the twenty seventh year, Bali Art Festival can be considered the most reputable regional arts festival in Indonesia. The procession that is held in the opening day of Bali Arts Festival 2005 is presenting the traditional and development of Balinese Arts and culture from each of Bali regency. During one month long event, each regency will present their respective style with their particular performing arts, handy craft and traditional costumes from all regencies. The opening the will be attended by representation from all regency of Bali and some participants from other provinces in Indonesia as well as from abroad. Among the international participants are Group Shakespeare's Tempest from USA, Galaktika Gamelan, that will be performed by Masachusetrs Institute of Technology, Apsara Asia Singapura, and some other groups from Japan and Korea. The event will be held at Taman Budaya (Art Centre) Denpasar, from June 19 to July 18, 2005.

IPAM - Indonesia Performing Arts Mart - is an annual art event organized in the form of a market, in which global Presenters (Art Managers, Promoters, Agents, and Producers) interact in various modes and activities with prominent as well as up-and-coming Indonesian Performing Artists. Conferences, discussions, workshops and performances are conducted in a way that allow participants to share experience and more importantly shape the contemporary trends of today's performing arts. Participants of this event are art managers, theatre directors, festival directors, artists representatives, booking agents, etc, from all over the world. Indonesian Performing Artists include individual artists, performing arts groups, artists manager, arts institutions, arts students, etc, from all over Indonesia, who will present their works to international presenters and potential sponsors. international performing artists, experts, journalists, writers, reporters, columnists, correspondents, commentators. Among the performers are Wayan Sadra & Friends, Agus Margianto, The Royal Palace of Mangkunegaran, Ni Kadek Yulia Puspasari and Komunitas Wayang Suket.
| Kuta Carnival
The annual Kuta Carnival, which previously held in October as a "life celebration" following the Bali bombing of October 2002, is brought forward to June 25th - July 3rd 2005. Efforts to promote Bali after the bombing continues, this time adjusted to school holiday and tourism peak season. The theme is A Celebration of Life, Summer of Fun. Various musical performances will enliven Kuta area with "on the sand" music, for seven days on three stages of performance. Hip-hop, punk, pop, jazz, rock, world music and ethnical music will be there for the beach and the people. In the last day of Kuta Carnival, a parade of carnival will be presented around the streets of Kuta and Legian. Anyone will also be invited to enjoy the food festival, July 2 and July 3, that presents local and international food. With reasonable price, the food will be communicating the culinary taste of many stars-rated hotels and restaurants in Kuta area. Sport lovers will also enjoy their time with sport competition such as beach volleyball, beach soccer, surfing and body boarding.
