Bali Entering Its 47th Anniversary 2005-08-14 [Bisnis Bali Online]
Bali is just a small island of 5,632.86 km2 or 0.29 percent of Indonesia. However, its beautiful natures and unique cultures and traditions have attracted millions of foreign travelers, making it well known internationally.
As its credits, Bali has received various awards. Last July, a New York-based magazine, Travel and Leisure, has named Bali as the best island in Asia and the world best island overall. The awards received can be said as gifts for Bali’s 47th Anniversary that falls on Aug. 14, 2005. “But, as the day for this year is on Sunday then the official ceremony for the anniversary will be conducted on Monday,” said the bureau head of human relations and protocol of Bali, Anak Agung Gede Bagus Netra on Friday here.
| Bali’s governor Dewa Made Beratha, meanwhile, when conducting a meeting with Bali tourism’s components conceded that Bali had got a record high in foreign visit, A delighting fact post the Bali bombings. The number of foreign visit in 2004 reached 1,457,227, but the figure has not affected much Bali’s economic growth.
The development of tourism and small industries that all this time has been the backbone of Bali tourism has not contributed optimally to Bali. Hence the economic growth was merely 4.10 percent. The governor mentioned further that the measures should be taken ahead was to manage well Bali’s economy and improve services to people to make a better standard of life for the Balinese. Bali, entering its 47th anniversary will try to prioritize itself in reducing poverty.
It is obvious that Bali has many problems, but with togetherness and the willingness of all sides they should be well handled.
