 March 29, 2006 - Tawur Agung Kasanga is a sacrificial ceremony held to welcome the Nyepi Holiday (the Hindu Balinese New Year). At 12 noon, this great ceremony is held at Puputan Square in front of the Governor‚s residence in Denpasar.
| March 29, 2006 - Ogoh Ogoh parades will be held after sunset in downtown Kuta, at the football field in Ubud, Puputan Square in Denpasar & at the Bypass in Sanur.
| March 30, 2006 - Nyepi welcomes the Hindu Balinese New Year of 1928. This is a day of absolute silence for Hindu followers. No activities, amusements, fire or traveling are allowed (between 6am on March 30 - 6am on March 31) as these are believed to attract the bad spirits roaming the streets. It is a day of fasting and self introspection. Tourists in Bali can still enjoy time out in the open within hotel and resort premises but are asked to please respect this very important day and keep the noise down (and electricity off) as much as possible.
