LAKEVIEW Hotel & Restaurant, Penelokan, high in the cool mountains, is a central place from which to explore the island of Bali. A comfortable vehicle and an english speaking driver can be arranged. It is a short 30 minutes drive over scenic back country roads to Pura Besakih, on the slopes of Mt. Agung. Drive down to the lake and visit Tirta Sanjiwani hot pools for relaxing evening hot spa, or cross to Trunyan vilage, enclave of pre-Hindu "Bali Aga" people.

Lakeview is a place to stop, look, and be inspired. The restaurant and accommodation are perched on the edge of a massive volcanic caldera, looking out over the smoking volcano Mt. Batur and its deep crater lake. Arrange guides at Lakeview for an early morning climb to the top of the volcano to watch the mists clear and the sun rise at dawn. On a fine day you can see all the way to Mt. Rinjani on the nearby island of Lombok.

Lakeview Restaurant, awarded best restaurant status in the province of Bali for 1998, can cater for up to 250 persons at a time, with a daily Buffet menu as well as a la carte service. Whether sitting inside, or out on the deck, guests enjoy spectacular views of volcanic terrain and lake.

At the base of the volcano the Tirta Sanjiwani Spa offers two public hot spring pools, an olympic size tepid pool as well as a number of individual spa pools that can be hired for private use. After climbing the mountain, or exploring the local lakeside scenery on roads carved out of volcanic lava, a plunge in the hot mineral springs is all you need to feel totally rejuvenated.
