Its abundant availability made coconut become one of the essential pillars of living in Bali. Almost every part of the plant is useable for Balinese, however after its meat is used, the shells are mostly thrown away as fire feeder. The interesting pattern and colors of the shells stroke I Ketut Sukayasa's natural creative mind. "I can make these abundant and less use shells into something that has better value, into an functional art". The work is started by drying the shells in the sun than break them into minuscule shards and reconfigure them into unique and wonderful designs of picture frames, placemats, boxes, trays, and other various home wares. Visitors are welcome to visit his work place, which is his house,to get more product , to see the intricate work done and how the craftsmen carefully control the quality of product. Many of work have been use in several exclusive hotels and villas in Bali as well as having exported out of the country. |
